Al-Futtaim Logistics opens new logistics yard in Khalifa Industrial Zone, Abu Dhabi
Al-Futtaim Logistics' new one million square metre facility at Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (Kizad), was inaugurated on 11th August 2015 by Omar Al Futtaim, Vice Chairman Al-Futtaim, and Len Hunt, President, Al-Futtaim Automotive group.
Al-Futtaim Logistics' new logistics yard at Kizad is strategically located between Dubai and Abu Dhabi commercial hubs. This allows for speedy vehicle deliveries to Al-Futtaim Automotive group's showrooms and an opportunity to enhance customer service. The yard also offers the potential to increase accessory fitments, personalised vehicle deliveries and customised vehicle inspections. A state-of-the-art washing tunnel, with a full recycling system, is planned. This significant investment in a new ultramodern facility represents an increase in the supply chain value addition.
With the support of Enterprise IT, Al-Futtaim Logistics will further invest in new technologies focused on yard management, third generation vehicle tracking systems, stock optimisation, picking accuracy and storage maintenance. The yard layout will be designed to reduce the carbon footprint and minimise environmental impact.
Kizad connects to the brand new Mina Khalifa port in Abu Dhabi and offers quick connections to the port, Etihad Rail and hinterland markets. The state-of-the-art road network, as well as the future rail network, connects Kizad to the domestic market, GCC and Africa.
Len Hunt said: "This new logistics yard represents a significant investment which will shorten Al-Futtaim Logistics' supply chain and also reduce costs in the longer term. It will improve operational effectiveness and efficiency which will further boost customer satisfaction."
Al-Futtaim Logistics will continue to invest in the UAE market's logistics infrastructure, strengthening Al-Futtaim Automotive group's market leadership with the support of Al-Futtaim and Al-Futtaim Real Estate.
