1. Biggest achievements of 2015
The year 2015 has been a record year for Al-Futtaim Logistics as we experienced exponential growth in comparison to 2014.
Last year also saw the entry of Al-Futtaim Logistics into new markets as well as the company’s venturing into green logistics through the use of trucks with very low CO2 emissions.
During the year 2015, Al-Futtaim Logistics expanded its fashion client base and extended its services to the food and performance footwear sectors. As a result of operational excellence, the customer’s operational lead time has also been further improved and today, it is one of the best in the industry.
In 2015, Al-Futtaim Logistics won a host of accolades, including the ‘Overall Compliance and Business Support’ award by Dubai Trade and the ‘Supply Chain of the Year’ award at the SCATA which is considered an industry benchmark. Recently we were recognised with the ‘Dubai Trade Innovation Award of the Year 2015’ and the “Smart Services Award for M-Token Services”.
2. Human talent
Al-Futtaim Logistics considers its human capital as its biggest asset. With this objective in mind Al-Futtaim Logistics is on path to develop its associates to create a culture of innovation, continuous improvement and success recognition throughout the creation of a unique operating culture that delivers results consistently that meet & exceed our customers’ expectations. We invested in an academy to allow associates to choose the courses they need for their personal growth. Based on our rapid expansion, we have career progression in mind for all associates which helps them to aspire for growth within our organization. Since customer engagement is of the essence, our company conducts surveys to determine to what level each associate is engaged with his clients. We have seen a positive correlation between engaged employees and happy customers.
3. Key strengths of Al-Futtaim Logistics
Our diversified multicultural team of about 1,000 associates leads the automotive logistics and corporate transportation sectors in the region. We also have a prominent market position in contract logistics and freight management. Our strategic positioning in prime locations such as Dubai Cargo Village, Dubai World Central (DWC), Sharjah Air Cargo Terminal and Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA) has helped us to substantially grow international freight, especially in charter and general air freight.
We have invested significantly to maintain a healthy infrastructure that serves our customers without compromise. Working with our strategic network partner has enabled us to provide complete end-to-end logistics from all key origins and destinations.
4. UAE as a global logistics hub
In 2015, the UAE continued to further strengthen its position as a global logistics hub, helped by its geographical positioning and world-class transport infrastructure. In 2016, the UAE will continue to lead the way as the Middle East’s global logistics hub due to ongoing substantial growth in its logistics sector which is considered as the most advanced and sophisticated on the continent.
5. Prospect for 2016
We are looking to grow our business both vertically and horizontally. Next year will see our company venturing into chemical logistics.
In the Fashion Logistics sector, we aim to attract high and low end categories of fashion apparel as we are currently dealing with the mid-range fashion. With regards to footwear, we are currently handling performance footwear and we want to expand the offering to handle casual and official footwear.
In the retail food logistics segment, we will focus on expanding the cold storage facilities for up to -30 degree C during 2016 and beyond.
